Puerto de la Ragua: A Hub for Cross-Country Skiing and Outdoor Activities

Perched at 2,000 meters, Puerto de la Ragua is dedicated to cross-country skiing and other outdoor activities that blend seamlessly with the natural environment.

Located in the lesser-known part of the Sierra Nevada National Park, it serves as a natural gateway to the Alpujarra, nestled between the provinces of Granada and Almería.

From Puerto de la Ragua, you can gaze upon the Alpujarra, the beaches of Almería, Cabo de Gata, the Sierras of Baza, Cazorla, Segura, and Las Villas, and El Marquesado del Zenete.

The station offers a comprehensive range of services and facilities:

  • Lodge-Refuge: Accommodating up to 32 people, with bar-restaurant services and rental of cross-country skiing equipment (boots, poles, skis) and sleds.
  • National Park Information Point: Phone: 950 524 020, featuring two environmental interpretation rooms and a shop selling handmade crafts.
  • Cross-Country Ski Trails:
    • Bayárcal Circuit: 5.5 km circular route.
    • Ferreira Circuit: 7.5 km circular route with various linking variants.
    • Laroles Trail: 2 km linear route.
    • Laguna Seca Trail: 11 km linear route (multi-purpose).
    • North Face of Chullo Trail: 9 km.
    • Hornillo Trail: 5 km.
  • Physical Conditioning Circuit: Located along the Bayárcal trail, consisting of 21 exercise stations.
  • Permanent Orienteering Circuits: Seven circuits of varying lengths and difficulty.
  • Network of Trails: Highlights include a segment of the GR-7, the ascent to Chullo, the ascent to Hornillo, the Alpujarra Viewpoint, the Aldeire Viewpoint, and the Laguna Seca Viewpoint.
  • Mountain Bike Skills Circuits: Featuring various routes and skill circuits.
